The JBL Professional Control 227CT are premium in-ceiling professional loudspeakers designed for applications requiring superior sound quality in ceiling mount installations.
Features include consistent 120° broadband coverage for exceptional sound distribution. The coaxial design incorporates a Kevlar-reinforced 165 mm (6.5 in) woofer and a 25 mm (1 in) compression driver. The loudspeaker delivers clear, natural sound with extended frequency response suitable for speech, vocals, and music. It offers 150 W power handling and uses an advanced high-slope crossover network to ensure smooth midrange response and consistent coverage. A separate back can and contemporary grille are available and sold separately.
Frequency range (-10 dB) is 43 Hz to 19 kHz. Transformer taps are 68 W, 34 W, and 17 W, with 8.5 W available at 70 V. Sensitivity is 90 dB measured from 1 kHz to 16 kHz. Coverage angle is 120 degrees conical with constant directivity. Frequency response (-3 dB) is 75 Hz to 17 kHz.
The low-frequency driver is a 165 mm (6.5 inch) unit. The high-frequency driver is a compression driver with a 25 mm (1 inch) voice coil.
The loudspeaker is suitable for use in air-handling spaces in compliance with UL1480, UL2043, NFPA 90, and NFPA 70 when installed with a UL-listed backcan such as the JBL MTC-200BB6 or MTC-300BB8. It is S7232/UL listed as a signaling speaker. The transformer is UL registered per UL1876 and complies with IEC60849 and EN60849 standards.
Dimensions are a 305 mm (12 inch) round baffle with a depth of 147 mm (5.8 inches) measured from the back of the baffle. Net weight per unit is 5.2 kg (11.5 lb), and shipping weight per pair is 6.6 kg (14.5 lb).
Power rating depends on the selected transformer tap. Maximum sound pressure level at 1 meter is 108 dB using the highest 70 V or 100 V tap. Input connectors use a screw-locking barrier strip for bare wire connections. The color is white.
The backcan is formed steel with a wood-lined interior and is available as an accessory. The baffle and rim are metal, round, with the driver pre-mounted to the baffle and a ported design. The required ceiling cutout size is 310 mm (12.2 inches) in diameter when using the MTC-200BB6 backcan.
Included accessories are a ported baffle pre-attached and a transformer on the 227CT model. Optional accessories include the MTC-200BB6 back can (0.7 cu ft), MTC-RG6/8 grille, and MTC-TB6/8 tile bridge. The speaker is also compatible with the MTC-300BB8 backcan (1.0 cu ft). Plenum use is supported when an accessory backcan is installed.
